About

The Appreciating Diversity Film Series

ADFS has been hosting screenings of top-quality diversity-related documentaries since 1997. We screen about six documentary films each year*, and follow each screening with speakers or a community conversation. Every film is shown both in Oakland and in Piedmont.

Our screenings are ALWAYS FREE.

ADFS is an all-volunteer non-profit organization supported by the Piedmont Anti-racism and Diversity Committee, the Piedmont Adult School, the City of Piedmont, the Piedmont Chapter of the League of Women Voters, and individual donors**.

Mission
The mission of the Appreciating Diversity Film Series is to bring powerful documentaries that examine issues of diversity to community audiences.  We aim to provide a venue that stimulates community dialogue about institutionalized power imbalances, broadens awareness, challenges assumptions, and encourages our audience to work toward a more just world.
